Dr. Syed W. Noor is a quantitative research epidemiologist who recently completed his doctoral research from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and is currently working under the supervision of Dr. Trevor Hart. His dissertation focused on characterizing patterns of drug use and sexual behaviors and examining the social contexts associated with clustered risk behaviors among injection drug users. His current research effort focuses on identifying protective factors and sexual strategies that are present among and employed by gay and bisexual men that lead to higher or lower sexual risk outcomes.

He has broad interests across public health including HIV screening behavior of at-risk groups (e.g. men who have sex with men), with special interests in quantitative methods and analysis of how health behaviors cluster. He brings to the lab advanced training and expertise in psychometrics, research methods, and multivariate analysis. He is also working on developing an international collaboration to study Yaba (Amphetamine-Type Stimulants) abuse in Bangladesh.
