Role Summary:
Moyo Health and Community Services (Moyo HCS) is seeking applications of interest for positions on the Advisory Group for our Championing Spaces program. The role of the Advisory Group will be to establish the Championing Spaces sexual health series to queer and trans folks in peel region to increase their capacity (knowledge, skills, decision-making abilities, and self-confidence) to prevent infection and improve health outcomes. The ideal candidate(s) will be able to commit to fulfilling the duties of the role until April 2023, the anticipated end of the program. Advisory Group members are expected to attend 4 mandatory meetings annually, taking place on a quarterly basis. Working closely with the Program Coordinator, Advisory Group members are asked to share feedback and insight into the activities of the Championing Spaces program and share strategies on how to improve its efficacy and impact in the Region of Peel.

Advisory Group duties include but are not limited to:

  • Recruit and engage up to 30 program participants who identify within the 2SLGBTQ+ community for the duration of the program 2022-2023, who will develop and revise evaluation tools with stakeholders.
  • Recruit and engage up to 10 peers with lived experience.
  • Develop culturally and population relevant promotional material (ex. Promotional flyers and 5 social media within the program year 2022-2023.
  • Create and utilize program specific modules (up to 8) that are inclusive in terms of gender and 2SLGBTQ+ terminology.
  • Deliver 2 championing spaces sessions across Peel region to 2SLGBTQ+ community members within the program year 2022-2023.

*NB, the chosen candidates will receive onboarding training prior to beginning their term on the Advisory Group.

Compensation:
This is a paid, fixed-term contract position. 4 mandatory quarterly meetings run 2 hours each and are compensated per meeting attended. If a meeting cannot be attended in its original format, the Gay Men’s Health Program Coordinator will set up an alternative option with the Advisory Group member to ensure participation and due compensation.

Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate possesses the following characteristics:
  • Demonstrates and incorporates an anti-oppressive, anti-racist, and sex-positive approach to their understanding of 2SLGBTQ+ and HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention.
  • 18 years of age and above, and identifies as a member of 2SLGBTQ+ with lived experience residing in Peel region (Brampton, Mississauga, Caledon) and the larger GTA area
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; while services are provided in English, ability to communicate in one or more languages is a strong asset.
  • An understanding of the needs of the priority populations of the 2SLGBTQ+ & Men’s Health program: women and gender-diverse people, Black women, and male allies.
  • Lived experience as a member of the 2SLGBTQ+ population
